A Thank-You Note from Hollywood Publicist Michael Levine

Dear Brother Don,

Due to the fact that I have written 19 books on business excellence and represented 58 winners of the Academy Award, I can say that I am not easily impressed.

Having said that, I must report that I was blown away by the great presentation that you provided our company.

The staff, interns, and alumni had a great time. Some of our neighbors also came down and enjoyed the fun. Our joining neighbors included five members from the staff of Magic Johnson.

The presentation was truly great and memorable. I would strongly encourage it to anyone attempting to create a memorable experience.

I have known you over the years of course, but I had no idea how marvelous a product and presentation you have created.

Bravo my friend.

Warmly,

Michael Levine

Thank You Note

Dandy Don’s Ice Cream got a wonderful thank-you note today from Carolyn Broner, Assistant Real Estate Manager at CBRE in L.A.  They manage the Wilshire Landmark building where we served ice cream sundaes to all of their tenants.  Carolyn wrote, “We were thrilled with Dandy Don’s Homemade Ice Cream yesterday.  Peter and Shauna did a great job!  The setup and service were professional, and everybody at Wilshire Landmark enjoyed the treats.”  You’re so welcome, Carolyn!

The Bacon Sundae from Burger King

We tried the new bacon sundae from Burger King today.  It’s not terrible.  The bacon (one long piece and many crumbles) is real and crispy.  The flavor of the vanilla soft-serve is very neutral.  And the salty bacon flavor pairs well with both the caramel sauce and the hot fudge.

Of course, this concoction would be far better if it had been made with a scoop of Dandy Don’s Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.  So we’re considering adding real bacon crumbles as a topping on our sundae bars.  What do you think?  Should we?

Dandy Don’s Ice Cream now in Post & Beam

Chef Govind Armstrong has opened a new restaurant, Post & Beam, with his partner Brad Johnson.  They’re bringing sophisticated Southern food like deviled eggs with house-smoked catfish, grilled beer-brined pork chops, and long-cooked beans with ham hocks to Baldwin Hills.  There are also fresh California dishes on the menu like salads using produce from their patio garden, hand-stretched pizza pies cooked in a wood-burning oven, and roasted salmon with Romesco sauce.  Dessert involves Dandy Don’s Homemade Ice Cream!  Check it out.

Fukuburger and Dandy Don’s Ice Cream

Fukuburger owner Harry Morton, son of Peter Morton (Hard Rock Cafe founder) and grandson of Arnie Morton (Morton’s Steakhouse founder), was profiled in the March 5th edition of the Los Angeles Business Journal.  The LABJ mentioned how Harry also owns Pink Taco in Century City and The Viper Room.  Fukuburger, a Japanese-inspired burger joint, started as a food truck in Vegas. Harry approached the owners and made a deal with them.  We’re glad he did because now Fukuburger in Hollywood serves Dandy Don’s Ice Cream.
