The Loews Hollywood Hotel is now serving half-pints of Dandy Don’s Ice Cream through room service. We think that’s swell.
Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive Has a New Bistro
The Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills has enlarged its old restaurant space on the ground floor and, a few days ago, opened a bistro called On Rodeo Bistro & Lounge. Chef Olivier Rousselle is creating comfort-food dishes and desserts with Dandy Don’s Homemade Ice Cream. Mixologist Matt Biancaniello uses fresh produce like pumpkin and passionfruit to infuse his cocktails.
A Warm Welcome To Our New Accounts
We want to extend a warm (or maybe cold?) welcome to our three new wholesale ice cream accounts. Dandy Don’s Homemade Ice Cream is now being served at Palomino Restaurant & Bar in Westwood
The Federal Bar in North Hollywood
and Angelini Osteria on Beverly Blvd. in L.A.
The Bacon Sundae from Burger King
We tried the new bacon sundae from Burger King today. It’s not terrible. The bacon (one long piece and many crumbles) is real and crispy. The flavor of the vanilla soft-serve is very neutral. And the salty bacon flavor pairs well with both the caramel sauce and the hot fudge.
Of course, this concoction would be far better if it had been made with a scoop of Dandy Don’s Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. So we’re considering adding real bacon crumbles as a topping on our sundae bars. What do you think? Should we?
Tam O’Shanter serves Dandy Don’s Ice Cream
Dandy Don’s Ice Cream is now being served at the legendary Tam O’Shanter restaurant in Los Feliz. The 90-year-old Scottish-themed eatery is owned by the Lawry’s group. They acquired the rights to keep selling and serving C.C. Brown’s Hot Fudge. They make a huge, killer ice cream sundae with our ice cream and that wonderful hot fudge.
Dandy Don’s Ice Cream now in Post & Beam
Chef Govind Armstrong has opened a new restaurant, Post & Beam, with his partner Brad Johnson. They’re bringing sophisticated Southern food like deviled eggs with house-smoked catfish, grilled beer-brined pork chops, and long-cooked beans with ham hocks to Baldwin Hills. There are also fresh California dishes on the menu like salads using produce from their patio garden, hand-stretched pizza pies cooked in a wood-burning oven, and roasted salmon with Romesco sauce. Dessert involves Dandy Don’s Homemade Ice Cream! Check it out.

Fukuburger and Dandy Don’s Ice Cream
Fukuburger owner Harry Morton, son of Peter Morton (Hard Rock Cafe founder) and grandson of Arnie Morton (Morton’s Steakhouse founder), was profiled in the March 5th edition of the Los Angeles Business Journal. The LABJ mentioned how Harry also owns Pink Taco in Century City and The Viper Room. Fukuburger, a Japanese-inspired burger joint, started as a food truck in Vegas. Harry approached the owners and made a deal with them. We’re glad he did because now Fukuburger in Hollywood serves Dandy Don’s Ice Cream.
New Ice Cream Client, The Slaw Dogs
Dandy Don’s welcomes its newest ice cream client: The Slaw Dogs. Slaw Dogs is a unique hot dog restaurant located in Pasadena, CA. It recently opened a new branch in Woodland Hills. Slaw Dogs starts with many different kinds of hot dogs (kosher dogs, spicy links, chicken-apple sausage, veggie dogs) and then creates a myriad of gourmet toppings for its customers to choose from. Of course there’s coleslaw and Thai slaw (hence the name), sauerkraut, relish, grilled onions, and jalapenos. But then there are the esoteric toppings like curry mustard, goat cheese, kimchi, truffle oil, and more. Sides include Belgian fries, sweet-potato fries, and beer-battered onion rings. Check it out!
Dandy Don at Burger City Grill
Dandy Don visited a new ice cream account, Burger City Grill in Lomita, CA. They have a new combo–America’s favorite buger combo–of a burger, fries, and a shake (made with Dandy Don’s Ice Cream, of course). Here’s a photo of Dandy Don with the crew from Burger City Grill. (Notice the tubs of Dandy Don’s Ice Cream behind them on the right?)
Mo’s Anniversary
Our wholesale ice cream client, Mo’s Restaurant in Burbank, is celebrating its 15th anniversary. There’s a party on October 27th with complimentary appetizers like mini burgers, and there will be live music, to boot. Mo’s is located at 4301 Riverside Drive in Burbank.
